Coffee Bean Species and Varieties

Coffee Bean Species and Varieties

Author: Craig Elliott

The coffee beans we grind and use to brew coffee come from the Coffea evergreen bush, grown in over 50 countries around the globe. Each year, the Coffee bush flowers and develops a cherry-like fruit, inside which are typically two small seeds or coffee beans. There are 10 different species of Coffea bush, the first of which was discovered in Ethiopia some thousands of years ago.

Once man discovered the coffee bean, its cultivation and use spread to the Middle East, Europe, Asia and beyond. Today, much of the coffee we drink is made from beans that were grown in Latin America, Western Africa, Indonesia and the Philippines, and continental southeastern Asia.

Two species of coffee bean -- Coffea Arabica and Canephora -- constitute more than 90 percent of the coffee beans sold on the international market. Depending on the region, species of coffee, roasting, and preparation, coffee beans can infuse a cup of coffee with a variety of flavors and textures.

The seeds of the Coffea Arabica bush are grown all over the world and account for 75% of the coffee beans we use to make our hot beverages. Arabica beans are very flavorful and contain less caffeine than Canephora beans. Coffea Arabica bushes are grown principally in Western Africa and Latin America. Different regions of these countries are known for producing a different type of coffee bean; that is, a coffee bean lending a different flavor when brewed.

These different region types are called varietals. The climate, soil, weather, and particular plants and seeds give regions their distinctive coffee bean tastes. In Africa, Arabica bean cultivation can be found in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, and the northern Muslim countries, among others.

Ethiopian coffee beans have an easy, smooth flavor and are delightfully accented by floral notes. Kenyan coffees are also smooth, but a bit tartier than Ethiopian beans. They have a pleasantly fruity aftertaste, as does coffee brewed from Tanzanian beans. These beans are a lovely afternoon coffee, with a milder texture and flavor than its northern counterparts.

A great variety of coffee bean flavors come from Latin America. Coffee beans grown in Brazil lend coffee a slightly bitter cocoa flavor with rich nutty undertones. A favorite of many, Columbian coffee is very rich and bold, a great morning coffee, with a thick, dark texture and a walnut finish.

Costa Rican coffee beans are similar to Brazilian, but have a lighter, sharper, almost tangy flavor. Mexico is also a great producer of coffee beans. The beans here vary in flavor and texture, from dry and light to thicker and deeper in complexion and flavor. Although many of the beans grown in Latin America are of the Arabica variety, some regions grow Canephora bushes. The seeds of the Coffea Canephora bush have fewer oils -- and in lesser quantities -- than Arabica beans do.

Less oil and higher acidity give coffees brewed from these beans a slightly more bitter quality. Despite this, Canephora is still a very popular coffee bean, used worldwide in cheap, canned coffee blends and expensive espresso roasts. Canephora beans typically have almost 50% more caffeine than Arabica beans.

Canephora beans are more widely cultivated in Asia than Arabica. These varietals are known for having a more acidic and bitter, although not unpleasant, flavor. Most of the coffee beans we use come from island nations in Asia, such as Sumatra and the island of Komodo.

Coffees brewed from these regional beans have a full texture and a slightly acrid, herbal flavor. Java and Kona varietals are especially popular and make a wonderful morning coffee due to their earthy, almost stringent quality.

Other factors that influence the taste of a coffee bean or cup of coffee are roasting methods and final preparation. As a rule of thumb, the greater the amount of time spent roasting, the darker, more full-bodied, and flavorful a coffee will be. Although coffee beans lose essential oils -- and caffeine -- during roasting, they change chemically during the roasting process, and acquire new, different and flavorful oils.

The darkest roast is known as Italian, which is preceded by French, Full City, City, American, and other, lighter coffee roasts. French roasts are used to make espresso, because they have a high oil content and low acidity.

City roast is common in western United States, and American roast is synonymous with eastern cities, including New York and Boston. These coffees are often produced using the drip method. Some people opt for a French press, the use of which results in a stronger flavor and oily texture. Using an espresso machine to brew coffee also lends the coffee a strong flavor, as well as higher caffeine content.

bare bones of the coffee venues

Some information on what the Coffee Venues are about

okay, so now I have set up some 'barebones' coffee venues - I selected them randomly rather than based on their functions / abilities - it was random in the sense it was a cross section of social networking portals that see activity in my e-mail inbox. I opted for a cross section as it widens reach .

I get alot of friend requests and interaction via the random selection from my inbox, and this activity is usually done by people, and it's people we coffee people want to interact with right ?

So I am taking our coffee venues to the places of activity.

I work on a similar princible to what Thomas Power is talking about over on Ecademy 'ORS' Open, Random, Supportive - look it up in the blogs there, but the concept of ORS in terms of our (and I have made them for more than just me!) coffee venues -is like a cafe or bistro in a shopping center - you are going to get a lot of people (quantity) walking around the shopping mall (a social network), some will walk past your cafe, some will come in, some won't

- some will walk by the cafe every day thinking I will have to pop in for a coffee one day, some will just "have to come in" to start their day - a habit that 'center's' them/ starts them for the day. - The point is - the cafe is there in the first place - if it wasn't - people would go somewhere else or have different habits.

Yet we also know that " build it and they will come" - doesn't work by itself alone on-line - this is proven over the years by many stores that come and go because they can't get awareness to their target market - in order for a shop or venue to work - the shop keeper has to do some enticement, which could mean putting some tasty cakes in the window, it could mean offering a freebie, and it could mean finding or attracting a range of people that work in a similar industry -

Imagine a cafe convention (or family/ friends) supporting your cafe on opening, same kind of thing - this network of friends supporting each other kind of works on Ning - the main difference with this - is it's coffee related as a main subject - a way for others to add in this situation is to make sure you have the equivalent of a notice / community board - where people can leave their messages, things for sale, classified adverts, events, yard sales etc.

- this is where team work from other people in your industry comes in - you offer some free cakes to the cake society - IF they come and eat those cakes in your store. You also have some good products, good deals - and good content for both - people see other people enjoying those cakes in your cafe - then they want some - your cafe is associated with a place where people enjoy cakes.

- why compete for business when there are enough people to share ? - affiliation works on this revenue model - REV share does work, just ask an affiliate agency! - If they didn't make money from sharing revenue and make a profit - they would not be doing it - they are a business - not a social welfare agency!

A group/venue is much like a blog too in that you need to keep it updated with fresh content or activity to attract people.

So my next stage of these venues is to add content, that coffee lovers and coffee people will find useful, and to also find the experts and "cake" people that can fill up each venue.

If you have something you can offer people for free that is coffee related - you are welcome to post it in the venues =)

Not ALL these venues will work - BUT - that doesn't matter - as some will - consistency and fresh content is the key to success with any blog /website or venue - together with effort to attract the right kind of people - extract the quality from the quantity as they walk by the cafe-

- You have to be visible and in the stream to attract attention real-time communication is one tool that gets you there, that is what all the top experts are saying - not just little old me BTW!--

hello just an update DXN, openoffice, free webpage

I've been putting all my commonly used web connections onto one web page - this web page doesn't actually go 'on-line' as such - it's more of a way of organizing places I often visit on to one page - the importance is getting most of the important links on one page because then you just open up your browser and you have links to all your often used websites - I've got a copy of this - partly completed that you can have and customize if you want - I'll add a link to it HERE - when I've uploaded it.

To customize it you just need a copy of notepad (comes with windows) and if you want easier 'WYSIWYG' customizing I personally use openoffice as a webdesigner /word processor/spreadsheet etc. app. as it's free and it works!

So, like I say I've been chatting with my DXN upline a bit more just to get a few more things clarified about the importing process - as I remember from eBay that importing from outside the EU has other factors - for example in the UK - we have to pay VAT that is added to imports over a certain amount, VAT is a bit like a State TAX I guess, plus there is 'import duty' on some goods. DXN might have a trade agreement set up that I'm not aware of - I know it sounds crazy to have to think of such things as I'm only looking to be a basic distributor of their goods - but when it comes to working out the price to sell, a seller needs to work out ALL the costs.

The reason I like DXN is because they offer a range of goods that have Ganoderma in, and the price and delivery time to the UK looks as though it will be quicker/cheaper than ordering from the States. For customers it brings a wider range of goods available - and I for one love the opportunity for a wider range of products and new brands, as I'm personally the type of shopper that will pick a different brand or blend of anything, although I realize many people stick to the one brand for years at a time.

DXN's calls it's Ganoderma coffee 'Lingzhi' coffee - which I think is the Chinese way of saying Reishi (reishi is Japanese name for it)

extract from WIKIPEDIA -

"The word lingzhi, in Chinese, means "herb of spiritual potency" and has also been described as "mushroom of immortality".[1] Because of its presumed health benefits and apparent absence of side-effects, it has attained a reputation in the East as the ultimate herbal substance. Lingzhi has now been added to the American Herbal Pharmacopoeia and Therapeutic Compendium."

So as you can see I am interested in buying actual stock myself and reselling it, along side the affiliate programs.

Lesson 11. where it is safe to put your blogverts sales pitches

There are different ways of selling on-line firstly I am going to talk about the kind of selling that is very popular at the moment - yet it seems to confuse a lot of people still - the type of selling I am talking about is selling by NOT Directly Selling

- Now that seems to confuse anyone who thinks the only way to sell it to "push their product on to leads" ( leads = sheeple = suckers)while it has been proven time and time again that yes, you can force people to buy using this method (not without negative effects) - but there is another way of selling that can sell products, and not leave you open to accusations of spam/hard selling/bad feelings - think about it do you want your customer to go away feeling ripped off/conned into buying something/hating you or do you want them to think wow, what a deal, I'm happy with my choice, what a nice person!.

Your old style sales person might say "I don't care if my customer likes me or hates me, it's there money that I am counting on, not their love!" - but you can't get away with that attitude so much these days as that customer can go a TWEET about your bad customer service and you could potentially loose customers. Bad sales people have less and less places to hide.

The new kind of selling is what we could call "true networking" - it involves not selling directly and shouting, not pushing your product, it involves two way communication - i.e you talk back to the customer as a normal person rather than just a sheep.

Lets look at what can be seen as "pushing your product" on a social network that could get you in trouble...

1. Pushing your product 2. how to do roughly the same thing using "true networking" so not get told off!

The Blogvert / Advertorial

1. A blogvert is usually an article that gives some information about your product and what it solves for example "have you heard of this great coffee ?", it may go into details about your product and how great you feel since using that product - and the end of the article is a link to either an affiliate website or you own website. this works fine on your own blogs on blogger, wordpress or a retail blog, youtube etc.

Now on some social networks you will get told off or called a spammer if you use these type of blogverts in blogs or specially on other peoples comments - because the people that read it know you are just trying to directly sell them the product you are speaking so positively about.

Now it should be pointed out that these blogverts are still useful and personally I allow them on my Ning Network (I pay $24.95 a month on my network so that you can blogvert your products there actually as they interest me!) - BUT on many websites like other Ning networks, Ecademy, Xing etc. - they don't allow blogverts and ban people that do them as spammers.

I don't see blogverts as spam myself, I see them as snippets of information about products that might help me or someone else - but that is my view and it is not widely accepted. So today the best place for links to your product/blogvert is on your profile page or better still your own website space - not in a blog on a network these days.

It's a tough one I know, especially when you are really excited about a product and you think everyone is crazy for not seeing how cool the product is, I probably still have blogverts floating abut the Internet since 2003/4 when blogs first became popular! - BUT again as a seller of a product you (and I) have to move with the times - there are solutions to this, it involves seeing your customer as a person, a potential "internet friend" a business contact or a mixture of both - this doesn't mean you have to share EVERYTHING with them, all your private details you share what you are comfortable sharing, you don't want them seeing your 'private life' then create a separate profile for internet friends, on facebook you can create a fan page for example.

Going into a network and looking for people

Firstly do your research on the network you are thinking of promoting on - if they have a classifieds section post your item there, or in a forum that says you can post blogverts or adverts as if you just launch into a sales pitch - most social networks will take it the wrong way, don't post your sales pitch on others profiles - unless everyone else is doing it - some networks are purely "banner farms" again if that is there purpose, use them for their purpose, they aren't harming anyone in my opinion, but you can't presume that all networks will let you use them in the same way! - for example I remove comments if they are just tons of banners as they bug my eyes/give me a headache!

Once you have established where you can post and what you are allow to post - you can decide how involved you wish to become in that community.

Note: any community that gets snotty/snobbish about you posting your own choice of links on your profile isn't worth bothering with in my opinion, your profile page - should of course follow basic rules of decency, but if you want flashy banners on your profile (which will put most people off buying your products, that's up to you!)

2. - A way to not upset the "true networkers" is to write your articles about a general subject in your niche but not promote your brand, product or service at all in that article - that mean's don't add a link, don't mention your product, you might be able to say ask me if you are interested in more information on this subject (or similar).

To a sales person this softly softly approach might sound crazy - but it's not really - as "true networking" is done by people taking an interest in YOU FIRST -

People have brains, and can decide if they want to know more about you by clicking on a link to your profile or them messaging you. Some places like Ecademy let you have a signature, you can add a link or two to your main website on that - rather than post it in your article.

To sum up:

Places a blogvert / advert is usually okay: - on your own website (i.e one that you have paid for), on a blogger or wordpress blog, on some classifieds websites, on eBay and sites that let you sell/promote your products, on-line marketplaces / shops.

Places a blogvert / sales pitch might get you in trouble/banned :

On someone elses Blog, web page, comment section, a community / shared blog,

Final note:

Mass mailing to contacts on Networks - this is a tricky one as on facebook you can mass mail using superpokes and some slide applications, I've used this to mass contact and don't consider it spam - I also think that you should be able to mass contact your contacts - BUT - I get the impression that mass contacting on NING for example is pissing off more people than is worth the effort - I used to post a contacts message out twice a month to contacts - but I'm calling it a day with contacts.

With contacts on Networks you contact each individual, rather than in a big group - that is the best practice I recommend affiliates follow for the time being - as mass contacting is turning into a form of spam - because some people send out lots of mail everyday - when people abuse a system - as a professional you have to eventually step back and say OKAY I won't use that method any more on that network.

NING and ECADEMY don't like mass mailings/broadcasts - Facebook allow it with pokes - twitter allow it with tweets - but twitter and facebook are becomming a "SERVICE" in the big sense of the word - like hotmail did, like vodafone did.

So building optin lists, building membership sites and adding content of interest without pushing content is the way forward with sales - no going backwards, so best get used to it!

Coffee Blog 7# Nescafe Latte Macchiato

Jason Coffee - this guy does coffee tasting on youtube

If you are a coffee affiliate one way to let people know about your brand or the type of coffee you sell is to do a youtube video about it - here's an example of a chap called Jason Coffee doing a coffee tasting video.

I've started my own version before I found this so I will have to compare notes now!

I will be trying out some other video styles - if you have a phone with a camera or or a digital camera you can upload either stills or moving video into a video program like Vegas 8 or windows movie maker (free on windows) and make a slide show or video easily then upload it.

Let me know if you need help making a simple video or if you are stuck i.e you don't know how to upload it or make a video and I'll talk you through it via e-mail or in our chat room!

Way to Go Twitter and Digg (not) « Income Club Pro.

Twitter and Digg have banned Natalie Regoli's Cancer - maybe they think that by banning her the problem with ill people tweeting and digging for awareness of cancer will vanish too eh?

3 cash Machine is back

Yeay! I'm glad they got it sorted out with google, I like this little marketing machine.  I'm sending this out as a blogwide update as it means I will probabley be adding 3CM back to the healthy coffee downline builder - I will add it as an exta program this time and keep global domains there too as a separate opportunity:

the e-mail from Dan - incase you missed it:

I write to you with great news... The 3 Cash Machine has been re-launched!

Google has finally lifted the 'Attack Site' warning and we've got the site
back up and running. And it's going to be better then ever!

During the time that the 3CM was down, we've gone through the site with
a fine tooth comb and fixed a number of scripting issues. In particular,
an issue that prevented a small number of people from signing up. So the
sign up numbers should shoot through the roof this summer!!

As we have not been monitoring the support desk during the down time... our
mailbox has filled up with over 15,000 emails. A lot of this is spam. So
we're decided to delete all of these emails and start from scratch. Soooo...
If you sent a support related email to us over the past 2 weeks, please go
to your 'Sent Messages', find the email and resend it.

I've been totally blown away by the response of the 3CM members over this
past two weeks. I'm so very proud of you all!! Your letters of luck and
encouragement have been a true inspiration. Thank you to all of you that
wrote strong worded letters to Google. It just goes to show what strength
in numbers can achieve.

Finally - It was the 3CM's 1st birthday on Sunday (2 days ago)! We didn't
think there was very much to celebrate on Sunday... But now we feel like a
PARTY!! So to thank you for all your hard work over the past year, I'm
going to send you a couple of presents tomorrow... so keep your eye out for
that!

Thank you for your patience and humility.
I wish you a profitable new 3CM year! :)
Kind Regards,

Dan Weaver

Hi Guys and Gals eBay and DXN updates

I decided to try out a free autoresponder for the moment as I am still deciding between the two essential items to invest my time in next, I'm a bit strapped for cash so I am thinking that to get cash flow going within the next month eBay is my baby!

Talking of eBay I've been looking at coffee items there and as I may have said I am thinking of opening a coffee club and/ or finding a way I can give away free coffee - this freebie - is of course a promotional freebie - so I need to source some quality free coffee to seed the idea into the minds of customers that I am a coffee person - one way is to give away coffee - to every customer you have (whatever they purchase) I'm also thinking that the coffee I give away doesn't have to be the main type of coffee I plan to sell - eventually.

Example imagine I am selling my bits and pieces on eBay - each person that buys an item - could receive a couple sachets of coffee for free for being a customer - the coffee could be sourced from a wholesaler - freeze dried/instant sachets that a easy to post - along with an introduction to my RANGE of coffees you see ? - my range of coffee would include specialty coffees like ganocafe.

With the Ganobrand coffee is probably could be used as a freebie introduction itself.

This method could be used to existing or current customers on your database as new ones as they arrive.
===========================
Other news I've been in touch with my DXN upline again - asking more questions as he seems to know the process pretty well. I still need more questions answered before i feel confident enough to promote the range of goods -- I mean the products and brand are good, they do ganoderma toothpaste, shampoo, makeup and herbal rubs etc. - but I need images that I'm authorized to use - I will probably try and recruit about 5 local people in my town for us to group buy and distribute products

- Price in UK money and delivery times are still unknown, but I'm not giving up on the idea, as an alternative source of products that DXN is makes them interesting, DXN are virtually unknown in UK and how many people have you met in your life that would know what ganoderma is ? - When I found out it was a fungus (mushroom) the first thing I thought of was marmite (Vegemite in Australia) as that's made from yeast. then I thought of a tray of fresh, uncooked mushrooms waiting to be put in a vegetable soup. - both images are positive and "wholesome" - so when focusing on why I want to sell the products I focus on the positive associations, that way the selling isn't forced, you are just introducing a product you like.

Here is an example of an eBay listing I have on-line at the moment - I have set it up for 30 days - it cost 40p (about 75cents in USA money)like I say I might open an eBay shop again, I had one before, but I already have a Ning membership costing me $24.95 a month so maybe I should try and earn my rental fee back on that network before I spend out anymore!?

Coffee Blog #6 Nescafe Coffee Menu Caramel

latest coffee to taste

Lesson 10 - Dealing with illness when you are an affiliate or Invidual business owner

Hi folks I haven't been around for a couple of days properly as I was going through a 'down' patch (I suffer with bouts of depression), then I come back to hear that a well known business networker has just found her life tumbled onto new ground by the wheel of fortune (that is what my previous post links to and I suggest you read it because Natalie went from having a normal week as a successful business woman running an on-line business to finding out she was seriously ill - she has decided, that for the time being she wants to share her experience and find others in the same situation - hence the shout out to her and baby - as communicating with your network of friends and contacts is the ultimate way to channel the right people to the right places - it is what we spend our lifes doing!)

I was planing on writing an article about how to keep the wheels turning in a business if you suffer from an illness, longterm like depression but now finding out this I am also looking at the totally unexpected like Natalie has experienced just recently.

One in 4 of us get cancer at some point in our life's - which means time out to recover.

Then there are mental ailments like anxiety and depression - but what happens to are income stream when these black clouds come down on us ? - we need to prepare a plan for illness - a 'living will' of sorts - if we want things to carry on.

Things I can recommend from my experiences over the years:

Firstly - you need to think about your business as a whole - is it like a market stall / shop where you can just close shop and come back when you are better ? - In the UK we get free health care - so if it is something big like cancer or something requiring time in hospital - we are extremely fortunate in the fact the State provides highly trained doctors and nurses for free.

In the UK, we are often heard to grumble and complain about the care in NHS hospitals - but the reality is that although there are some bad problems going on there (like any organization has it's ecosystem problems) - on the whole the quality of care and professionalism is second to none -

And if you are ever taken with an illness in the UK - I'd recommend the NHS over anything private here, as private hospitals often end up transferring patients to NHS because they don't have the resources / equipment to deal with many problems - they are shadows of the NHS and not worth the cash from all I've read and heard about over the years.

I realize it is a totally different thing in USA - where you have to either pay or go to a city hospital if you can't afford it - I've heard horror stories of city hospitals - and private ambulances leaving dying people on roads because they didn't have insurance - this might be media hype - I don't know. But medical treatment costs over there so - you definitely need to have a back up plan to keep you earning.

The number one recommendation for keeping your business going - when you can't do it, is automation if you are an affiliate of a product like Ganobrand you can automate getting traffic, educating your recruits, by setting up the following things:

You have the 2 sets of people (that can switch from one to the other) - you have buyers (direct buyers of the product) and sellers (your recruits that earn you residual income by copying your method)

So - having a blog and / or website of your own you can capture potential buyers and sellers by automation using feedburner and / or an autoresponder - the autoresponder can provide new visitors articles/newsletters (with your links at the bottom) up to a years worth in advance in some cases! personally I am thinking of reopening my AWEBER account as they are the best in the business for autoresponders - the free ones are good practice to learn how to use functions, but AWEBER are the thing to use once you have your content prepared.

I will be setting up an autoresponder for this site soon - I recommend you join it and take note of the process - i.e you come to this blog, you fill in the form for the free ebook, you are sent to a thankyou page that asks you to confirm your request, you visit your email inbox, you click on the link in the e-mail, you are then sent to a page with the free ebook and a thankyou for joining, then you should get an e-mail once a week, sent automatically, with an article you can use in your / or on your website/ blog (or in your own newsletter to recruits) and a link to a marketing resource or coffee related item.

Once the autoresponder is set up - it is your virtual assistant waiting for visitors to your blog.

Getting visitors to your blog in the first place

Getting your blog in traffic exchanges - is an automated method once it gets going ! - I'm looking at an url rotator script (I'm not happy with the coffee review script, for my purposes, so will probably be deleting that and trying some of the other scripts - scripts are a big source of automation - when you are happy with them!)

You can send automated tweets to your twitter account by using TwitterFeed Twitter feed will take any RSS you put into it and sent it to twitter - example I am using my coffee club at SocalMedian as my content for twitter as it has all the latest coffee news, tweeters and bloggers fed into it in the coffee industry. - this could be used to read the latest going on via your phone/tablet - if you just want to keep up to date about trends by reading - join up there and add your feed if you are into coffee ;-)

So imagine you can't get to your PC, if you have set up your twitter profile page on twitter you can still follow people automatically by using Tweetlater - and it DM's them a thanks for following message (with your blog / website link in it.) Your profile page should also have the link to your blog or website.

All traffic/vistors are directed to your blog - your blog has the autoresponder and the autoresponder has the links to the affiliate programs or product you are selling.

The next part of automation to make the most of twitter - is to make sure the RSS of your twitter account gets across many social networks - this is done by using one of the codes provided by twitter - i.e the widget code - you copy the code that will work for the social network you are using - you put the code anywhere and everywhere you can on-line - that piece of code automates the driving of traffic to your twitter profile - your twitter profile - links to your blog - etc.

Those are a few of examples to be getting on with. Think - blog, aweber, twitter, traffic exchanges, social networks, widgets, tweeterfeed, tweetlater - these are keys to automating a stream of traffic to your newsletter/product that once set up work on autopilot - just about every expert I have spoken to or read up on uses these tools to drive traffic.

Morning coffee friends

Hi just an update while enjoying a cup of Energi ganoderma coffee :-)

So at the moment I have done another quick video reviewing a cup of coffee - I will have to do some reading on actual "coffee cupping" so I can use some more descriptive words than - "it's nice" - but at the moment action speaks louder than words so by regular video blogging and chatting about coffee I will build up another type of traffic - leading back either to here or over at income club pro where I'm housing my 'suite' of coffee tools.

I've just configured - but have yet to customize a coffee items review site - this will give my opinion (and yours if you do a video blog) of various coffee and related products I try out - youtube videos are preferred as they act as a free source of testimonials and can be made fun, serious or anyway you like too.

Our Coffee Review Site - send me a link to your coffee review on youtube and I'll add it here for free

The site is here ==> http://incomeclubpro.com/reviews I have yet to make it look coffee like!

I used a generic script and modified the categories for only coffee related items. (if you want your own copy the review script it'll cost you $7.00 USD (I'm not allowed to give it away!) you will have to install it yourself or I'll install it for you for $10.00 USD - note with this script I can only install it for admin to do reviews, i.e a basic install, if you want it configured any other way you'll have to hire a professional webmaster - I can give you advice on how to change catagories etc, no probs.

3 cash machine Still Broken ?

An update on Healthy Coffee Downline Builder - for the time being I've removed Dan weaver's 3 cash machine as, from e-mails he says his site was falsely flagged as an "attack site" - members can't log in - but until it is fixed I've changed 3CM to GDI - Global Domains International - I'll keep you updated as I get more information from Dan.

So if you have an account over at my Healthy Coffee Downline Club you will need to log in and update your affiliate code for that program to your GDI affiliate link (if you have one.)

I'll be setting up a script for a shop today, I also have a rotator script - that may be another free tool for coffee affiliates.

So Remember: - if you do a coffee review on youtube let me know about it (you can send me a link to your coffee review via @coffee2u on twitter) and I'll add your review to the review site, with your affiliate link in for free, the review site will go in the rotator and it will be the page rotator that goes into all the traffic exchanges.

Lastly a tip about twitter - remember that if you use twitter and syndicate out the RSS content to other websites and widgets - i.e like Ning, facebook etc. add the http:// to the web urls you tweet - as this makes them more likely to be active on your profiles on other websites other than twitter- as I've noticed that if I don't add the http:// and just start www. that the hyperlinks sometimes read as text only - i.e they aren't active links, people are unlikely (from my own experience) to take the time to copy and paste an unclickable link from a status update into their browser - people need it to be as easy as possible to get to your website, so rather than make them "jump through hoops" adding the http:// could increase your visitors.

Example Coffee Review - again notice I'm not pretending to be an expert (just yet!) but I'm getting used to talking / video blogging - while sipping away at various cups of coffee each time.

I'm trying out all the varieties of packet coffee first in the supermarket, ganoderma coffees with feature too - but I'm focusing on bringing together 'mainstream' coffee drinking with specialty coffee drinking - ganoderma coffee as I said, to me is just like another flavor coffee - focusing on this angle will steal the product away from the quackery bunch that make claims that are actually false - i.e the claims that it can cure cancer falls into that realm - so please don't get caught in that trap - it's one of the reasons I pulled the google alerts as the stories I was getting rebroadcast to my twitter account were largely, what we call here in the UK - BULLSHIT! hence my changeover to social median feeds from coffee bloggers instead - so are better quality - instant/sachet coffee is handy for single people or for at work - these benefits are much better than "miracles". Ganoderma is a "fungus" but like mushrooms is a vegetable, vegetables are wholesome and good for you like cornflakes! he he, I know! - but thinking of different perspectives / ways ganoderma can be seen in the minds eye - is good for marketing ideas - but don't quote me on the cornflake thing :P

Lesson 9 - more clarification on getting potential buyers & updates

First an update:

Okay this is what I'm up to at the moment, when I go a bit quiet it is usually because I'm up to something, now in order to create my CD product and make it as I want, I've been reading a refresher on setting up article marketing websites - the free report I've been reading for that refresher is here: Content Cash Secrets

I'm going to combine this way of organizing articles with Russell Brunsons method of CD creation and using the two together should give me a whole bunch of items I can use to create various items for this niche.

Talking of which - I had a look at the niche through the eyes of Dean James method - and the difference between the healthy coffee niche and the coffee niche is quite stark - you could view it as an obstacle or a challenge - I'm taking on the challenge - it looks that even the spammers can't get a handle on this market at the moment - it's the word "health" or "Healthy" that causes the headache I guess because as some might say healthy implies health benefits - which gets the food and drugs people itchy. Where as it could be defined as healthy as in a "Healthy Appetite" as in you like lots of something - I will have to do some further thinking on this.

I've had a look on eBay again and in the food and drink section under coffee, there do seem to be some coffee sachets for sale in UK, but looking at eBay rules it says selling "food" is "Questionable" due to FDA rules and the sale of wild mushrooms is banned.

So I'm wondering how coffee and tea is sold, does it come under a "herbal" label ?

Ganoderma are a form of "wild" mushroom - but grown in a controlled environment, that farms them like a crop - this vagueness - combined with some issues with communication I'm having with the suppliers is making me seriously think of opening a subscriber based "coffee club" where I get a range of coffee products in, as they become available that might be the way for me to go to make the most of this niche.

Now with people just selling one product, people based in the USA, it seems there are much better established supplier links for the whole Ganoderma niche.

If you are an American you could maybe view the UK as a "State" that has alot of trouble getting things in to it - however there is still a multi-billion dollar industry in Internet sales and people here to catch on to American trends, so seeing as I'm in this State I am working on getting a system going - but it may have to be created differently than if I was doing it in the States.

Getting people to your website

Like I said - or tried to say, if I was in the USA, I'd be out delivering leaflets to mail boxes, getting business cards done and direct selling via eBay and my website - off-line marketing and on-line as the American product has a regular supply chain / logistics in the USA - where as the supply chain/rules aren't clear enough here in UK yet to do off-line promotion - I can only dip my toe - until a bigger fish can set a standard - as I'm not even sure the packaging is legal in this country - there are no company blogs or websites to clarify anything.

On-line Promotion
Promotion involves joining lots of coffee related groups that allow exchanges of business and getting the word out, that is what many dedicated niche people do, some combine it with adwords campaigns others do article marketing (the route I am looking into).

The reason I'm going into the article marketing route of generating sales, is because writing some articles of my own - is - a way to generating original content that can be used in other places.

There are no short cuts to generating sales on-line - Internet Marketing is providing the directions to the checkout and the reasons why they want the product in the first place - once the customer gets to your shop (website/blog) it's down to the shop to deal with the sale - if you are an Internet marketer rather than solely an Affiliate, it is likely you will use a splash page / landing page on your own website to capture people's emails - before - they use the link to the product you affiliate with, as a person that is interested in coffee is maybe interested in other coffee related items.

If you aren't getting sales it's because the customer isn't seeing their need to buy the product - or they don't understand the directions to get to the checkout.

Now Ganobrand has clear instructions on the website about how much the coffee costs to buy and how it's delivered - both those things are vital for a customer to know, so the affiliate part of the coffee buying process is there, waiting.

So the challenge for the Coffee Affiliate is - How do I drive traffic to this page ?

That is where the real work comes in - I've said in lesson 8 - people find products on-line by going to a search engine (in most cases) - and most people go to google - so if you want to get sales fastest you use the search engine that most people go to.

The way to get an affiliate link traffic in google is either to advertise it in google via a paid submission (adwords) or to make your own website and redirect people to your affiliate url from there.

If you do your own website, filled with content, you try and get it in the first page of googles search engine results page (as most people go to a result on the first page) - getting on the first page - this is done by making sure your HTML is correct and readable by google's robot AND your content is readable by people too! - you have to make sure your website is actually in google via submitting it first of course!.

The other main method is "word of mouth" meaning in this case - people finding out about your product via social networking, forums, chatrooms and other methods of social interaction, personal branding Niche marketers use this method - and do the search engines too.

The other well known method is by paying or swapping links to have your banner/advertisement shown on another Webmaster's network/website/blog - an example of this could be either free banner exchanges, link swaps or getting your advert on facebook, yuwie or MSN by paying for it - i.e you are not paying to show up in the search engines with this - you are paying for exposure of your brand on someone else's network and clicks through's - some allow affiliate banners some expect you to have your own website/blog.

What ever method you choose to get traffic - the common theme is you have to do the traffic generation yourself - i.e join the groups, and introduce your product, or open an account with adwords and figure out how to use it - unless you can afford to pay to have someone do it for you.

Webmasters help each other out (for free or lower cost) my allowing link swaps, blog roll additions etc. they are much more likely to add you if you have your own website or blog rather than an affiliate link.

So to sum up - if your aren't doing any of the methods above, it is unlikely you are getting the results you want. Action, exposure to others with your link and targeted visitors.

Exposure Big Time

Note: Coffee is very popular healthy coffee is much less well known - Nestle in the Philippines sell a brand of ganoderma coffee in supermarkets, they don't in UK, I've wondered what the impact would be of it being available like chamomile tea is or like the flavored coffees.

I'm coming to the conclusion that maybe to give this industry a boost - and make "healthy coffee" a more accepted part of the coffee community - a large commercial player might not do any harm to the healthy coffee industry.

As this publicity would bring this type of coffee to the mainstream consumer - we affiliates sell a "Gourmet" version so the impact wouldn't dent profits - as if you think about it you can buy supermarket brand coffee already and that hasn't stopped people buying branded coffee or people wanting to try different brands / flavors of coffee.

Once this kind of coffee has been brought to the mainstream it will have a "legal blueprint" in place for the country concerned - this will make it easier for suppliers to regulate the type of packaging allowed, terminology etc.

===============================
So, my plan is to continue to look at coffee and ganoderma coffee as a niche, but also look at coffee related items I can actually sell on eBay with no problems.

LOGISTICS - again if they are not clearly laid out simply for people people won't buy regularly - me included!

They are more clearly laid out in the USA - but so far I am still not satisfied with UK end of it all. I have opened up the option for people to purchase via links, the affiliate programs coffee shops are currently still the best value, clearly laid out - where as the network marketing programs still need better written English instructions, as the marketing directions are not clear to me.

Coffee Venues - Connect with Coffee People

Okay I'm going to add this as a new page in the menu:

This page will list Coffee Venues that you can go to on-line and add your coffee related products - I will be adding them across networks like a chain of restaurants - and I will try and have a link to the live Xat Chat room where ever possible.

These are places to meet up, say hi & network with other coffee people or leave a message for other coffee people to come and say hi where ever you hang out.

So the live chat room is always here: http://xat.com/coffeedrinker

These clubs are venues to network in - if nobody is about leave a message saying where you can be found on-line most - i.e add your twitter or facebook or where ever you can be contacted by members of the public.
